D2 Spotting in NYC

Oh Roe, where were you when I needed you today? I was way over on the West Side for an interview, slowly walking back crosstown and who do I see walking along Seventh and 58th but Simon Le Bon! He was very slim, wearing bright green pants, a dark jacket, with a shorter, modest looking woman (some assistant, I guess), looking a little confused. He was carrying a Build A Bear Bag with a smaller Henri Bendel bag inside. I wrestled with my inner 12 year old and decided I couldn't let the opportunity pass with out saying something. I watched him go into a camera store, briefly looked around and when he came out I went "Hi Simon!" and he turned around without missing a beat to say 'allo!" I went on to say I've been a longtime fan, how it's good to see them back in New York and that I'm looking forward to the new album (guess I'm dating myself with THAT comment). He was smiling and said "Oh that's very kind of you," and patted me on my arm, because I was too stupefied to offer a handshake. Then we nodded and went about our ways. Then I walked a few blocks giggling like an idiot. It was a good day. Now if only I could bump into John...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that I've composed myself... That's AWESOME!!!!

All the years I traversed the streets of NYC on the outside chance I'd see one of them... and Simon is wandering around while I'm working on the East Side!

Well they're in town for that series of Broadway concerts that they're doing, but i found out about it too late. They're going to be there for 10 shows or something, maybe we should camp out, ha!

I'm so impressed you said hi!

The ticket prices are outrageous, so alas, I will have to give them a miss. Sob...

Yeah, it's ridiculous. I envy folks that got to see them in Rum Runner for a song and a few drinks. I would have loved to have seen Van Halen live too, especially with Eddie's son playing-i think that's so cool-but the prices for the seats? C'mon. I'll listen to em on my ipod. BTW, lots of cool Duran stuff on You Tube!

One of the best Duran bits on YouTube has been the anime version of Careless Memories that the band ran when they played it last time I saw them in 2005. It's their little swipe at EMI and it's hilarious - I'm going to see if I can post it to my blog, so you can check it out. Here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=6OZMaiIpiPg

Otherwise, I was able to post it. Whoo hoo!

I can't say I'm feeling too bad now with the Broadway strike going on, if I was a fan going to the show I'd be livid.

All these strikes are making me angry...
